Blepahroplasty

Blepharoplasty is performed to remove excess fat and tissue from the eyelids. This procedure is performed to correct the eyelid’s functionality by smoothing the underlying eye muscles and tightening the supporting structures. The procedure is achieved through a series of incisions made along the natural eyelid lines, the skin is then pulled and fatty tissue and muscle is removed, finally very fine stitches are used to close the incisions.

Blepahroplasty is carried out under local anesthesia (which numbs the area surrounding the eyes) and with oral or intravenous sedatives which will induce sleep on the patient.

The surgery can last around two hours, but time may vary depending on the extension of the procedure. If the procedure is going to be carried out on all four eyelids the surgeon will first attend superior eyelids and afterward the inferior eyelids.
