In this procedure the objective is removing excess of skin and fatty tissue from the medium and lower region of the abdomen and also reinforcing muscles in the abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty is achieved through a large incision made from hip to hip just above the pubic area, another incision is made around the belly button to pull it apart from the surrounding tissues. Scarring may vary depending on the extension of the area that will be corrected.
In a mini Abdominoplasty the incision is much smaller, also done above the pubic region and with the difference that it’s performed without the second incision. Abdominal skin is lifted up to the ribs so the muscles are exposed to be tensed and joined in the center of the abdomen, this results in a more firm abdominal wall and slimmer waistline. Lifted skin is the pulled towards the pubic region, excess is cut off and the belly button is placed in its new position. Finally, the incision is stitched up, and bandages and a (temporal) draining tube is placed.
A full Abdominoplasty can last between 3 and 4 hours depending on the procedure’s extension. A mini Abdominioplasty often lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
With the purpose of contouring the patient’s figure, flanks and back liposuction is performed. If the patient wishes to, fat can be used to perform Buttock augmentation.
This procedure is finished with a series of post-surgical massages that help to reshape the patient’s figure.
